Downfield – Eco House
The brief on this project was to create the client’s dream of a sustainably built, future proofed eco home. This project enabled us to showcase our passion for sustainable building and provide input at the design stage of the project to make our client’s dream a reality.
This butterfly shaped property is constructed of Structurally-insulated panels (SIPs) creating a wonderful open plan living space. Rather than using mains water, we drilled a borehole and tapped into the naturally occurring water underground which is full of minerals and free from chemicals. Resulting in the client never having water bills!
On the north wing we fitted a beautiful sedum green roof providing this property with a wealth of benefits. See our eco guide for more information.
The south wing has been fitted with 60 solar pv panels giving an 18.6kWp output. These panels will save electricity, store power and maintain energy independence. This project is set to make approximately £85,000 income from its solar panels over 20 years.
We also installed a Bio Bubble domestic waste water solution. See our eco guide for more information.
This stylish property has been finished to an extremely high standard whist achieving net zero carbon emissions.
Note from the client:
“We came across Bespoke and liked what their website showed so arranged a meeting. This went really well. We connected immediately with Dan, Jon and Laura. So decided to go with them. We were building a pretty ‘Eco’ house and they were really exited by the project…Regular meetings took place and as usual, we upgraded some of our design. Laura was very fair on the extra pricing. The guys employed were really friendly and we got on extremely well…We couldn’t think how any company could have treated us better.”
